FAQ

At ATC, the health and safety of our community is our top priority! Due to the ever-changing guidelines from the CDC our Policies and Procedures are updated at the beginning of every session. The following guidelines were updated July 18th, 2022 and are in effect until further notice.

Actors Training Center strongly encourages students to be vaccinated for COVID-19. If you/your child is not vaccinated you must present a negative COVID test prior to every class. The test must be administered within 24 hours of the class time and must be submitted no later than 1 hour prior to the start of class. Students who are vaccinated for COVID-19 should provide proof of vaccination upon registration and do not need to test to come to class. Masks remain optional for all students.

Classes are broken down by age and by session, typically meeting once per week.

Most classes are taught by one teacher the whole session. Some of the more Advanced classes may bring in Guest Instructors or have a rotation of teachers throughout the session.

For more details on what to expect from a class, please contact the ATC office: 847.251.8710 | programs@actorstrainingcenter.com

Our workshops vary between one-day intensives to multi-week programs based on instructor availability and course goals.

All workshops feature a special guest instructor – a professional working in the industry such as: a casting director, a talent agent, a working actor, artistic director of a theatre, etc. Our workshops are purely education & are in no way a guarantee of employment.

Most workshops require some work before coming into class. Materials to prepare are usually emailed out a couple of days in advance to simulate the true timeline given to working actors receiving a script for an audition. It is integral to come as prepared as possible to these workshops – as prepared as you would be for a real audition.

You are welcome to bring in a headshot/resume for a workshop, although there is no guarantee the instructor will collect them.

To register please fill out the registration form in the class or workshop. A member from our team will contact you to go over specifics and secure payment.

All classes and workshops require a 30% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot.

30% of tuition is considered a non-refundable deposit. If you cancel or drop for any reason and more than 2 weeks before the start of the class, you can get a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit.

Cancellations less than 2 weeks before the start date of the class, are fully non-refundable.

Due to their specific nature, workshops are non-refundable.

“The continuing job of learning to find out who you really are, of learning to pinpoint your responses—will help you begin to fill your warehouse with sources upon which to draw for the construction of a character.” ― Uta Hagen, Respect for Acting.

Acting classes are for beginning and advanced actors alike — even professional actors continue to train. By training, you work that muscle that allows you to easily connect & relate to a character or, rather, a version of yourself under different circumstances.

There is no better place to learn to be vulnerable, take risks, & fail than in an acting class or workshop. Train today – walk into the audition room with confidence tomorrow.

If your child has gotten the acting bug, is looking to explore new challenges, or is ready to perform on Broadway or win an Oscar – it is essential to get them the right training. The best acting classes are those that foster healthy communication between instructor & student & gives actors the capacity to audition & work at the professional level with confidence!

Acting classes are for beginning and advanced actors alike — even professional actors continue to train. By training, you work that muscle that allows you to easily connect & relate to a character or, rather, a version of yourself under different circumstances.

Lifehack.org says that those who train in performance communicate more effectively with others, become more confident in themselves, experience less stress or better ways of relieving it, understand the power of their own vulnerability, & are quick to make friends.

Whether or not you are destined for stardom or this is just a really exciting hobby doesn’t matter so much to us – as long as students come away learning something about themselves, how they relate to the world, & how they relate to others around them – we consider the acting class a success.

Industry-grade training shouldn’t be limited to downtown Chicago. Here at ATC, our nationally-recognized school helps to bridge the gap between the training actor & the expectations of the industry. With classes available Kindergarten – Adult, our professional space, makes industry-grade training accessible to any student.

Learning is an opportunity best experienced shared — therefore we do not offer private acting classes week-to-week. However, we do offer private coaching for specific auditions (theatre, TV/film, college, etc).
