Check out our short get-to-know-you interview with ATC Teaching Artist: Brandon Logan
At ATC, we like to present our teachers with a few questions so that our students can get to know them a little better. Here's the response from ATC Guest Instructor, Brandon Logan...
Hairspray at THE MUNY & Florida Studio Theatre, Book of Mormon 1st National Tour
Any awards or honors you are particularly proud of?
Laurie Beechman Award for Vocal Excellence in Musical Theatre
What class(es) do you teach for ATC?
What is your specialty area? (Shakespeare, standup, musical theater, etc.)
Musical Theatre Scene-work and Song Interpretation
What makes that area of the arts important? (3-5 sentences)
Musical Theatre is such a special art-form. Musical Theatre Performance requires you to use your entire body, requires you to stretch your full vocal range and engages your mind. It's a full being experience. Because I am so fascinated by human behavior and emotions, I love the idea that we sing in Musical Theatre because the emotions are so strong that speaking is no longer enough. Powerful stuff.
What is your advice for folks just starting out or looking to take the next step in their career?
Trust your instincts and do what is best for YOU no matter what anyone else thinks. Also, relax. Take a deep breath. It'll all work out the way it is meant to.
What is the thing you are most proud of?
My college degree.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Black Lives Matter.
